Our Liveable Streets programme will improve the look and feel of public spaces in your neighbourhood. By creating a better environment, we can make it more convenient to get around by foot, bike and public transport.

What is Liveable Streets?

Liveable Streets is a Tower Hamlets programme designed to enhance liveability across the borough through improving public spaces, changing traffic conditions and discouraging anti-social behaviour.

These improvements will be determined by community feedback, suggestions and co-design workshops. We want to hear from as many people as possible to best represent the wants and needs of the community in our designs.

What’s happening now?

Consultation for Liveable Streets Bethnal Green is now open.
So far we’ve listened to Bethnal Green residents and heard your concerns on issues including through-traffic, dangerous driving, anti-social behaviour and pollution. Click here to view our proposals to tackle these problems. We want to hear from everyone who lives and works here as we formally consult on these proposals. Let us know what you think before midnight on Monday 25 November 2019.

You can also come speak with us at one of our drop-in events:

  • Saturday 9 November, 10am to 12noon
  • Thursday 14 November, 5pm to 7pm

Venue: Professional Development Centre, 229 Bethnal Green Road, London E2 6AB

Which areas are included?

Seventeen areas across the borough have been identified for development. Consultation and engagement has already begun for five of these schemes: Bow, Wapping, Bethnal Green, Barkantine and Brick Lane.

How do I get involved?

You can visit your area’s project webpage via the left-hand column. On these pages you will be able to:

  • Take our online surveys and leave suggestions on the interactive map
  • Review results from surveys and interactive maps
  • See dates for co-design workshops and RSVP to attend
  • Provide comment on design plans prior to finalisation

We will be posting key dates for online surveys and maps as well as any events the project team will be holding or attending on the right hand side of this page.
